The United States Department of Justice recently announced that an illegal immigrant in Mobile County would be referred to immigration officials for deportation after he was arrested in September.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office pulled over Jhostin Nunex-Murcia, 36, on September 12, for a traffic violation. It was determined that Nunez-Murcia, a Honduran national, had been deported in 2012.
He was taken into custody, and agents with the U.S. Border Patrol responded.
After pleading guilty in federal court, documents show Nunez-Murcia was sentenced to time served, one year of supervised release and a $100 fine.
Nunez-Murcia is currently being held in the Baldwin County Jail, an approved facility for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement inmates.
