Vaccine uptake in parts of London has proved “challenging” to achieve this season as a flu “super strain’ spreads, health chiefs have warned.
Councillors were told health services in Barking and Dagenham are confronting “pockets of hesitancy” in the borough and “vaccine fatigue”.
It comes amid urgent appeals from the NHS for people to get vaccinated to help combat the spread of the “super flu”.
Statistics last week showed fewer than half of eligible people in London have had the free flu vaccine this season.
More than 1.8 million people in the capital have received their flu jab since 1 September, with more than 65,000 taking up the offer in the past week.
