In a major relief for residents of several remote villages in the Ledo region, the long-awaited bridge over the Tirap River has officially moved from promise to progress. Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma on December 12 laid the foundation stone for the construction of the permanent bridge at Ledo Baruahghat, ending decades of uncertainty for the people of Ledo Kuhiar Bari, Bisa Gaon, Toklong, and Tinisuti.
For years, the absence of a proper bridge had forced villagers to undertake perilous journeys across the river, especially during monsoons, resulting in severe disruptions to daily life. Despite 78 years having passed since Independence, the region continued to face extreme mobility challenges due to the lack of safe connectivity.
