STEWARTVILLE, Minn. — Law enforcement is on the scene at Stewartville High School in southeast Minnesota following a shooting in the parking lot early Friday.

Superintendent of Schools Belinda Selfors sent a message to families saying school was canceled for the day due to the presence of investigators looking into the shooting, which took place around 5 a.m.

"We are supporting the investigation in any way we can," Superintendent Selfors wrote. "Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot share further details at this time."

The superintendent told families that there is no additional threat to students, staff, or the public, a message echoed by the Olmstead County Sheriff's Office.
