JACKSON — Mississippi Veterans Affairs will honor fallen service members this weekend during its annual Wreaths Across America ceremonies at two state veterans cemeteries.

The events, hosted in partnership with Friends of Mississippi Veterans, will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemeteries in Kilmichael and Newton. The ceremonies are free and open to the public.

Volunteers will place wreaths on every headstone and columbarium niche to recognize the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families during the holiday season. All wreaths were purchased and donated by Friends of Mississippi Veterans, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

The cemetery in Kilmichael is located at 2 Legion Road, while the Newton cemetery is at 248 Honor Circle.
