Syracuse, N.Y. ― A Syracuse man was convicted Thursday of setting a fire that killed a woman on Syracuse’s South Side in 2024.
Anthony Green , 60, was found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree arson and three counts of attempted murder.
He now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Around 11 p.m. on June 20, 2024, Green set a fire on the first-floor porch of 2017 South Ave. as five people were partying upstairs. Shaquoiya T. Allison , 34, was killed in the fire.
During the trial, Green’s defense attorneys pointed out that investigators never discovered how the fire was started. They argued there was no evidence Green was the one who started it.
Prosecutors argued Green’s behavior after the fire , coupled with repeated domestic incide
