TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Debate continued about the future of a former state prison near Tucson, now owned by a company known for operating ICE detention centers.

Management and Training Corporation bought the facility near Silverbell and Sanders Road from the state last spring.

For many years, MTC operated it for the Arizona Department of Corrections, but the speculation now is that the company wants a contract with ICE.

Dozens of Marana residents have been voicing their concerns.

“It was like a match that has been lit on a kerosene-soaked barbecue; it just burst into flames,” one local resident said.
