The redistricting bill that passed the Indiana House last week was defeated in the Senate 31 to 19.
Legislators say the map was designed to hand all nine of Indiana’s congressional districts to Republicans.
The National Republican Redistricting Trust drew the map.
Had it passed, it would have split the City of Indianapolis into four districts.
