GRAND FORKS — Jack Kernan was a major piece of UND's recruiting class this summer, helping fill a void at center.

The Fighting Hawks lost five of them in the offseason — Jake Schmaltz, Cameron Berg, Sacha Boisvert, Louis Jamernik V — and only had one coming in.

But after Kernan's commitment, UND also landed Ellis Rickwood, Cole Reschny and Ollie Josephson, pushing Kernan to wing to start the season.

With Rickwood out last weekend, Kernan moved back to center during UND's two-game sweep of St. Cloud State. He talked about that with the Herald and answered some off-the-ice questions.

Q. What have your first few months of college been like?
