Houston Texans minority owner Javier Loya has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL and fined $500,000 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, the NFL said Thursday.
The punishment comes after yearslong investigation into rape and sexual abuse accusations filed against Loya in 2023. He will be unable to apply for reinstatement until June 2026, according to the NFL.
Loya was charged with one count of first-degree rape, five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and one count of third-degree sexual abuse in Kentucky in May 2023. The charges stemmed from incidents during two parties hosted at his home in Louisville in May 2022, according to the Houston Chronicle .
