The holiday season can be challenging for interfaith families when it comes to deciding how to respect and honor everyone’s beliefs and traditions. But for those looking to find a balance, it can be as simple as having open, honest conversations with their partner of another faith about where and why some holiday-related values are so important to them.
Rabbi Melinda Mersack, director of jHUB Cleveland, and Rabbi Matt Cohen, senior rabbi of Temple Emanu El in Orange, said that when it comes to observing holiday traditions in interfaith households, it’s not as difficult or complicated as many think.
