MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio. (WSAZ) - An investigation is underway after a deceased individual was found in a burned vehicle early Friday morning, according to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the vehicle fire occurred in the Hemlock Grove area in the early morning hours after deputies and fire personnel were dispatched to reports of a vehicle smoldering.

At the scene, responders found a body inside the vehicle.

Detectives from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office are still at the scene and actively conducting an investigation on the incident.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is also still at the scene.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and no other information is known at this time, Sheriff Scott Fitch said.
