Colin Willetts, deputy managing director of Homes by Esh, tells Mike Hughes how you can always tell a house that was built by his team

There is something about the name that never really struck me before. But as I drove to Philadelphia for this interview, it seemed obvious that Homes by Esh is a differentiator. It works better than Esh Homes, and I’m not quite sure why. It’s almost subliminal, but it feels more engaging, like the houses I’m about to be shown around are crafted for particular people and the keys are handed over with a certain… warmth.

That personal side of the business continues throughout the region, with West Park Garden Village, Hurworth Meadows and Havelock Park near Darlington and off up the A1 to today’s site at Collier Gardens, halfway between Durham and Sunderland
