SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - The Shiawassee Humane Society is working with police to find who neglected and abandoned a dog that was left for dead.
The 6-year-old dog named Libra was found abandoned in a ditch in November.
The Humane Society said when she was found, she was severely underweight, weighing 22 pounds, which is less than half of what she should weigh, and covered in feces. She also had sores on her toes and tail and was starving.
“In my 13 years of animal welfare, this is one of the worst cases of neglect I have seen,” said Elizabeth Kowal, LVT, Executive Director.
Libra’s paw infection is resistant to most common antibiotics, and she now requires weekly treatment and expensive medications.
