ROCKFORD, IL — Residents, volunteers and civic leaders gathered Dec. 11 to honor the Rockford area's most selfless community servants and celebrate what's good about the region.

A crowd of about 600 gathered in a banquet hall adorned with green and gold Christmas decorations inside the Prairie Street Brewing Co. in downtown Rockford for the annual Excalibur & Excelsior Awards ceremony.
