With the holidays upon us, many of us are thinking about how to best support our local communities this year. As we enter this season of giving, a recent study from the 2025 Bank of America Study of Philanthropy shows that generosity remains strong and offers both hope and a call to action for communities.
The study finds that 81% of high-net-worth households in America gave to charitable causes last year, with an average annual donation exceeding $33,000. The study also reveals that 79% of those donors support organizations in their own communities, proof that hometown giving remains at the heart of American philanthropy.
