Police in Ntcheu have arrested 44-year-old Jolomosi Mbizi on suspicion of murdering Pilirani Shonga following a dispute at a drinking establishment.
According to the district’s deputy police spokesperson, Beatrice Mlauzi, the incident occurred on December 10 this year in Mpazo Village, Traditional Authority Mpando, in the district. On that day, Mbizi went to Shonga’s house and invited him out for Kachasu, and Shonga agreed.
While they were drinking, an argument broke out between the two, leading to a fight. During the altercation, Mbizi allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Shonga in the stomach before fleeing, leaving his friend bleeding heavily.
Shonga was taken to Ntcheu District Hospital, where he died while receiving medical treatment.
