ROCHESTER, Minn. — Rochester Public Transit (RPT) will offer free rides this weekend due to extremely cold wind chills.
The "A Warm Place to Be" program allows individuals to board RPT buses without paying a fare to escape the dangerous weather.
Starting on Saturday, December 13, and continuing through Sunday, December 14, those needing shelter from the cold can inform an RPT driver to board the bus for free.
"Our transit vehicles are on the streets and in the neighborhoods 365 days a year," said Interim Transit and Parking Director Rachel Fautsch. "When the conditions outside are dangerously cold, we encourage people to board a bus to stay safe."
