The CIF state football championships will unfold this weekend in Southern California, with 30 teams playing across 15 divisions in quest of finishing the season with a top prize.
De La Salle will be back in action after having a bye during the regionals.
The Spartans, aiming for their eighth state title but first in a decade, will play Santa Margarita for the Open Division championship on Saturday night in Mission Viejo.
Five other teams from the Bay Area News Group’s coverage area – St. Ignatius, McClymonds, El Cerrito, Bishop O’Dowd and Lincoln-San Jose – are also making the trip to SoCal after capturing NorCal championships last weekend.
