A 53-year-old woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing nearly $130,000 in student activity fees while serving as a clerk for the Deer Lakes School District, authorities say.
Rachel Rominski of Hampton, who was hired in August 2021, was responsible for collecting payments, including student club fees and athletic ticket sales, which were to be deposited in the district’s bank account, according to a criminal complaint.
Instead, Ms. Rominski has been accused of keeping the cash payments for “personal benefit,” the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office said. She allegedly only submitted check payments for deposit.
Ms. Rominski is being charged with theft by unlawful taking, misapplication of entrusted funds and receiving stolen property, the attorney’s office said.
