PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - After a review of the facts, Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos has found that an officer-involved shooting in Peoria in August was justified .

On Aug. 5, Peoria Police were called for a suspicious man armed with a baseball bat near Glen Oak and Star Terrace, finding 41-year-old Brandon Lewis sitting on a retaining wall with a wooden baseball bat.

Lewis was allegedly swinging the bat around and had also allegedly urinated on the street as cars drove past.

According to Hoos, Lewis refused to multiple times drop the bat and swung it towards officers. An officer was hit, and one of the officers fired his weapon, hitting Lewis. At the same time, a Taser was fired, but Lewis was not hit.

Lewis than ran a short distance before being taken into custody. Hoo
