TEXAS, USA — Texans may be eligible for a share of a $700 million antitrust settlement with Google.

Texas and other states and territories secured the sweeping settlement with Google in 2023 over anticompetitive practices that impacted people who made purchases on the Google Play Store between August 2016 and September 2023, according to a press release.

The lawsuit filed by the attorneys general in 2021 alleges that Google monopolized the market of Android app distribution and in-app payment processing by signing anticompetitive contracts to deter people from directly downloading apps to their devices, the press release states.

Affected consumers will get an email from PayPal or a text from Venmo notifying them of their incoming payment at the email address or mobile phone number assoc
