Following intense negotiations, the BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena have resolved their recent differences and agreed to jointly contes t most of the upcoming 29 Municipal Corporation elections in Maharashtra under the Mahayuti alliance.

The breakthrough came after a series of high-level meetings, including discussions involving BJP state president Ravindra Chavan, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and a separate meeting between Chavan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

A key outcome of these talks is the formation of a joint committee comprising local office-bearers from both parties. The committee will immediately begin finalising a local-level seat-sharing formula for major civic bodies such as Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Nashik, with disputes in Kalyan-Dombivli and Navi Mum
