A £1 million cannabis farm was smashed by police carrying out a drugs raid.

Officers struck at a property in Heywood town centre, with about 2.200 plants being seized. Greater Manchester Police said the drugs could be worth as much as £1 million on the streets.

Pictures from inside the farm display a professional set up, with lights and air filtration. A 38-year-old man found at the property has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "Heywood Neighbourhood officers seized an estimated million-pounds worth of cannabis during a warrant executed earlier this morning (December 12) The raid, which came in the town centre this morning, resulted in approximately 2,200 plants being recovered.
