NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell announced that new smart signals will be put into use at 36 intersections along Lebanon Pike.
The new technology is a move to improve efficiency and travel time reliability along one of the city’s busiest roadways, according to Mayor O’Connell.
The city explains that these smarter traffic signals are programmed to select from a menu of signal timings based on traffic conditions.
So, what’s next? The city will install fiber to allow the signals to become fully adaptive and communicate with new software and nearby signals.
