Our greater Canton/Stark County community has lost a giant among men with the passing of the honorable Tom Bernabei. This giant of a man played so many roles that touched the lives and hearts of people of all walks of life in our community.
The word stranger was not a part of his vocabulary. People from all walks of life were able to appreciate and call him a friend. Black, white, straight, gay, wealthy or poor, this giant of a man gathered many under his umbrella of humanity. There is an Italian proverb that says "Una faccia, una razza" (One face, one race), and I firmly believe that this was the motto that Tom Bernabei followed in his life and in his career.
As you enjoy Canton's Centennial Plaza, remember Tom Bernabei. While you ride the bus routes of SARTA, remember Tom Bernabei. As
