Akhilesh Gaharwar, a biomedical engineer and one of the researchers on the project at Texs A&M, said they have found a way to boost the production of mitochondria, which he described as “tiny batteries” within our cells. Recharging aging cells could help people fight diseases and physical deterioration as they grow older.
