WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 34-year-old Wichita man has been charged with the death of a 4-year-old boy earlier this week.

Sedgwick County court records show Daniel Martin is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of child abuse in the death of Tiuri Blunt-Porrata. His first court appearance is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Officers responded at around 3:20 p.m. Monday to a medical call regarding an unresponsive child at River Walk Apartments in the 2600 block of South Topeka. WPD spokesperson Rick Pena said the child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m.

Officer Pena said Tuesday that the suspect was initially arrested for child abuse pending the medical examiner's autopsy report. A murder count was later added. Police have not
