WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — A man was sentenced to prison this week after police determined a September 911 call reporting a murder-suicide at an apartment complex was a hoax, authorities said.
Antonio Edward Woods, 44, was sentenced Thursday to 30 months in prison and up to two years of post-release control by Lake County Common Pleas Judge Patrick J. Condon, according to the Willoughby Police Department.
The case stems from a Sept. 4 incident at Willo Park Apartments on Euclid Avenue. At about 7:08 a.m., a 911 call went to Willoughby police in which a man reported he had shot and killed his girlfriend and intended to kill himself, police said.
Police conducted an extensive search-and-response effort lasting nearly four hours, searching all buildings at Willo Park Apartments and the nearby Ceda
