The Salvation Army Delaware is calling on the community to help ensure hundreds of children in need have a gift to open this holiday season.
The organization’s Angel Tree Program provides toys and gifts to families in need, and this year, officials said 856 families, representing 1,805 children, have signed up for assistance.

Despite donations so far, the Salvation Army shared that they are still in urgent need of 2,110 toys by Monday, December 15, for 422 children ages 0 to 12.
The organization especially needs toys for boys and girls ages 9 to 12. The monetary equivalent of the 422 is $50,640, or roughly $120 per child.
