IOWA, La. (KPLC) - The Iowa Yellowjackets are where they’ve never been before... playing the Superdome for a state championship title.
However, they aren’t there alone.
Rose Marie Victorian was one of many cheering on the Jackets this morning. Fans, cheerleaders, and band members arrived as early as 5 a.m. to load buses for New Orleans.
Iowa natives, Lisa Johnson and Selena Lockhart, say the game means so much to those who’ve worn purple and gold for years.
“It’s history for us, and we’re rooting them on, and I think all things are going to be good,” Johnson said.
