The world may have lost one of the last Boeing 727 aircraft, following an incident in Colombia, where Aerosucre was operating its B727-200 freighter between Barranquilla and Bogota. The airplane, registered as HK-5216, has been flying for over 45 years.

In a report by Aviation Herald , the 727 freighter had experienced a failure on the left-hand main landing gear and was forced to return to Barranquilla around 70 minutes after takeoff, and saw the jet's left wing make contact with the runway. Given the age of the aircraft, it remains unclear if it would be repaired.
