LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man convicted of a child sex crime is now accused of possessing child porn.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel Broussard, 37.
On Dec. 11, CPSO learned Broussard had child sexual abuse material (CSAM), CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent said.
Investigators found that Broussard had a cell phone containing CSAM, including CSAM that appeared to be AI-generated, Vincent said.
According to Vincent, Broussard was living in a local halfway house, serving a 40-year federal sentence from a 2011 conviction of using a facility in interstate commerce attempting to coerce a minor to engage in criminal sexual acts.
Halway house staff seized Broussard’s phone, which he was prohibited from possessing, and contacted CPSO, Vincent said.
