A dog owner has been issued a warning after a cockapoo died from serious injuries sustained in an attack. On Sunday morning, a man was walking his cockapoo through Bewick Park in Wallsend , when a German Shepherd bounded out of a garden and attacked the cockapoo - which later died from its injuries.

The owner of the German Shepherd has since been issued with a Community Protection Notice Warning (CPNW), which is said to include strict requirements around pet ownership and keeping animals within properties; but has been able to keep the dog.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Just after 10.30am on Sunday (December 7) we received a report of a disturbance on Bewick Park in the Walls
