For yet another week, Devin Neal will be leading the New Orleans Saints’ backfield.
Alvin Kamara, the team’s starting running back, has been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers, head coach Kellen Moore announced on Friday.
Kamara suffered a knee injury in Week 12 against Atlanta. The Panthers game will be his third consecutive game on the sidelines.
The 30-year-old has been one of the league’s best backs since being selected in the third round of the 2017 draft, earning five Pro Bowl nods and won Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Although he’s never eclipsing the 1,000 rushing mark, Kamara totalled at least 400 yards in the air in every season and recorded only one year with less than 1,300 scrimmage yards.
