STOUGHTON, Wis. (WKOW) -- The Madison Police Department got into the holiday spirit Friday, shopping for toys to give to local kids.
A group of officers was at the Stoughton Farm and Fleet, their partner in the donation, to choose the toys.
This year the department says they are seeing a greater need to support families, but are relying less on donations.
"Obviously, we get a lot of toys, and there's a lot of families," said Officer Jessa DaVilla. "Unfortunately, they can't buy a lot of the toys, so we have the opportunity to donate a lot of those toys to the families, and so it feels really good."
Officers returned and began wrapping the toys after shopping. They are hoping to distribute them to families sometime next week, dressed up as Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves.
