CLEVELAND — With bad winter weather expected this weekend, ODOT says its crews are fully prepared, with plow drivers on standby and salt barns already stocked.

Christian Nixon, who's been driving plows for ODOT, says this is the time of year when everything ramps up. He and other drivers spent Friday checking equipment, pre-treating routes, and making sure trucks are ready to roll the moment snow begins to fall.

"If we know that it's going to be snowing or icing out or flurries, we're right out on the road right when we clock in," Nixon said. "We're brining the roads, making sure that when the snow hits, the ice isn't packed on the roads."

ODOT spokesperson Brent Kovacs says the agency's priority is keeping highways safe and traffic moving.

"We'll be out in full force," Kovacs said.
