QUEBEC — Despite a dismal standing in the polls and an election 11 months away, Premier François Legault says he believes there is a future for his Coalition Avenir Québec once Quebecers size up his adversaries and what they have to offer.

At a news conference wrapping up the winter sitting of the legislature, Legault was asked to speculate on the future of the movement he founded in 2011 as an alternative to the Liberals and Parti Québécois, and whether his four-month campaign to jump start his government was having any effect.

The CAQ is currently mired in third place in public opinion polls. It has been in office since 2018.
