BEREA, Ohio - The Haslam Sports Group has transferred the land for its planned $2.4 billion indoor stadium to the city of Brook Park in an incremental step toward setting up a community authority to own the facility and tax incentives for the project.
County records show the transfer of the 177.7 acres was completed Thursday.
A Browns spokesperson characterized the transaction as a step in the process toward creating the community authority that will eventually own the stadium.
Such an authority would have trustees appointed by both public and private officials. In Columbus, a similar arrangement was made for the stadium that houses the Haslam Sports Group’s Crew soccer team.
No price was listed for the transaction. But a Brook Park ordinance approved in November authorized the city to
