SAVANNAH, Ga. ( WTOC /Gray News) - Georgia authorities are investigating after a woman was critically injured and taken to a burn center following a reported assault involving acid at an area park.
Loved ones identified the woman as 46-year-old Ashley Wasielewski. They said the attack occurred on Wednesday night at Forsyth Park.
Wasielewski was reportedly walking around the historic park when a man suddenly came out and attacked her with an unknown chemical substance.
The liquid melted through her clothing and headphones, leaving her with second-degree burns, Wasielewski’s friends said.
Wasielewski was treated by first responders at the scene and was taken to an area hospital before being transferred to a regional burn center for advanced care.
