WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – A man has been sentenced to more than 56 years in prison for a fatal hotel shooting that happened in February 2024.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's office says 22-year-old John A. Griffin III was sentenced to 673 months. He will also serve 36 months of post-release supervision. Judge Tyler Roush ordered him to pay roughly $8,500 in restitution.

The shooting in February 2024 resulted in the deaths of Christopher Harrell and Natisha Phillips at a Wichita-area hotel. Griffin had previously pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder, one count of voluntary manslaughter, and two counts of aggravated battery involving additional victims.

The Wichita Police Department led the investigation into the double homicide.
