A Shippensburg man was arrested after state police say he sideswiped a horse-drawn buggy on East King Street, tipping it onto its side, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Friday, Dec. 12.

Brad J. Rodarmel, 46, was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot when he tried to pass and struck the buggy near 730 E. King St. in Shippensburg, troopers said.

The impact caused the buggy to tip onto its passenger side and be dragged down the road by the horse pulling it, police said.

Rodarmel was arrested for DUI and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/controlled substance, troopers said.

A 22-year-old Shippensburg woman listed as an occupant of the buggy, Annamary Burkholder, was not hurt, and neither was Rodarmel, according to police.

The crash happened around 12:47 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, troopers said.
