New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday sought responses from the Centre and all the states on a PIL filed by a renowned doctor seeking a direction to declare cancer a " notifiable disease " across the country to ensure early detection and proper care of patients.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi took note of the submissions of lawyer Gaurav Kumar Bansal, appearing for Anurag Srivastava, highlighting the issue regarding failure by Union Health Ministry and the states to declare cancer as notifiable disease across India.
