SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ABC57's Leo Goldman spoke with State Senator, Blake Doriot, on why he voted against the mid-century redistricting in Indiana.
The republican senator did not come about this decision easily; he told Goldman that his vote cost him a 30-year friendship with a fellow politician, but he says he made the right decision, letting U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson know his choice before voting.
"I texted him from the floor, I said 'Hey, I just want you to know and be the first one, I apologize but I can't be with you on this.' And then he said 'Great, I wish you would be able to support me, but merry Christmas and maybe we can have coffee sometime.'"
