SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Sacramento's Shop 916 program is back for another year, offering bonus gift cards to shoppers who purchase gift cards of at least $25, aiming to support local businesses during the holiday season.
The program has attracted 125 participating businesses in Sacramento, including restaurants, retail, and entertainment venues.
Under the Shop 916 program , shoppers get a bonus gift card when they buy a gift card. If you buy a $25 gift card, you get a $10 bonus card. The amount of money for the bonus gift cards increases at the $50 and $100 price points.
"It's a big deal," said Ross Rojek, owner of Capitol Books. "I mean, it's somebody's getting money, but then there's only a limited number of places that they can spend it at and that's what helps."
