Vice President C P Radhakrishnan Saturday led parliamentarians in paying tributes to those who lost their lives while foiling the December 13, 2001 terrorist attack on the Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Radhakrishnan, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, were among the first to offer floral tributes.
The annual commemorative ceremony was held outside the old Parliament building, now known as the Samvidhan Sadan, news agency PTI reported. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel presented a guard of honour, followed by a minute of silence.
Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi , Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with Union ministers Kiren Rijiju, Jitendra Singh and Arjun Ram Meghwal, were present at the event.
