Health Officials Report 51 Cases Across 19 States as Cases Spread

Federal and state health officials are investigating a multistate outbreak of infant botulism that has been linked to ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula, prompting a nationwide recall of all products made by the company.

The U.S. Food and Drug Adm i nistration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said all ByHeart infant formula, including powdered cans and single-serve “anywhere pack” sticks, should not be used, sold, or purchased. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and contamination has not been ruled out across the company’s entire product line.
