The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed a historic victory, taking control of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation from the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), marking the end of 45 years of Left rule in this local body.

With the BJP winning 50 out of 101 wards, the victory in Kerala's state capital is seen as a precursor to future successes in the 2026 state assembly elections. However, the party remains one seat shy of a decisive majority in the corporation.
