Landowners whose properties were notified for acquisition for the widening of NH 169 between Mangaluru and Sanuru (Karkala) in Paduva village have demanded denotification of their lands, citing non-payment of compensation even nine years after the preliminary notification was issued on March 16, 2016.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Bhoo Maalikara Horata Samiti president Mariyamma Thomas said that in arbitration proceedings, the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner in 2020 awarded compensation to land losers at the guidance value of ₹13.35 lakh per cent of land.
