New Delhi: India has altogether 1,28,875 MBBS and 80291 Postgraduate medical seats in Government and Private medical colleges across the country during the academic year 2025-2026, the Union Minister of State for Health , Smt Anupriya Patel, informed the Lok Sabha recently.

Further, the Union MoS Health informed the Parliament that four rounds of UG Counselling 2025 for MBBS seats have been completed as per the Supreme Court's order dated 16.12.2021 and the Academic Session for 2025-2026 has commenced from 22nd September 2025. A total of 72 MBBS seats in the All India Quota (AIQ) remained vacant in Government/Non-Government institutes after four rounds.
